Skin on the face and body is constantly exposed to natural, damaging elements like the sun or environmental pollution. Intensive Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment can correct a variety of imperfections such as freckles, port wine stains, sunspots, age spots, birthmarks, rosacea and spider veins. Light energy is delivered to the skin in pulses through a computer-controlled hand piece.
Photo facials are one of the most popular uses for IPL treatment. An alternative to chemical peels or microdermabrasion, which remove layers of the skin, lasers finely control the exfoliation of the top layer of the dermis. After the treatment, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced, resulting in a smoother, more even skin tone.
A mild burning sensation may be present after treatment, but this usually fades after about an hour. Treatments can last anywhere from 10 minutes for a small area to 40 minutes for a full facial treatment.
